Your Resume Feedback: Impact

resume Oct 10, 2023

Know the impact of what you've accomplished and be able to tell the story behind it.

Every week I speak with candidates who ask me to look at their resume.

Every week the number one piece of feedback is the same thing (no matter the role/level):

"Lead with impact".

That's it.

Put another way, "tell me what the impact of that bullet point was".

This is similar to what hiring managers want from candidates they interview.

Here are three examples of candidates who have not mastered their impact and candidates who have.

Candidate #1:

- Crafted and sent cold emails to prospects using Lavender/SFDC.

Candidate #2:

- Added 20 demo calls forecasted at $500k ($32% of my pipeline) by using Lavender/SFDC to send cold outreach to prospects.

Candidate #1:

- Built and maintained relationships with customers to insure adoption, achieved a 101% renewal rate.

Candidate #2:

- 101% renewal rate (all renewals signed 60 days early), half of my customers purchased new SKUs for $100k in nnARR.

Candidate #1:

- Managed a team of 12 people.

Candidate #2:

- Managed a team of 12 across 3 U.S. timezones, 8 were over 100% of quota (3 got promoted) and 2 hit their ramp quotas.

Same candidates, different stories.

Know you're impact -> lead with it -> verbalize how you achieved it.
