Your Referral Experience
May 02, 2023
Recently, you were referred to two different companies.
One was a multistage process and the other was quick (too quick).
Sound familiar?
Recently I spoke with an Enterprise AE who was in this situation.
She was referred in the exact same way and knew the same level of people.
What was most important to her?
"The interview process can show you how you'll be treated like a number (or not)"
Why was this important to her?
"This can be a red flag."
I've heard horror stories about people getting a job then being laid of months later.
Not every situation is like this, but..... is it something to pay attention to? YES
What did this look like in practice for her?
Interview process #1 qualities
- More than 4 stages of the interview process
- Multiple panel interviews (presentation included)
- A test or a project
- Leadership conversations at different levels (your boss, their boss, etc.)
Interview process #2 possible red flags
- Less than 3 conversations total
- Never presented on a skill you'll use in the role
- Didn't speak with layers of leadership
- Didn't speak with a peer or other team members
Are you just another number or are you a long term partner for the business?
If you think this will help someone, please forward it to them or have them subscribe.
