Interview Tip
Jeremy Bohnett - VP, Revenue - BlockIt
As the VP of Revenue, Jeremy owns a ton (Customer Success included). He cut his teeth as an SDR and has worked multiple leadership roles before rising to the VP level. Here's a look into his thoughts on interviews.
3 Questions He Asks In Interviews:
1. Tell me about the process you went through to prep for today's conversation
2. Tell me about the worst part of your last job
3. What questions do you have for me?
What He Looks For In Answers:
1. Tell me about the process you went through to prep for today's conversation
-> I'm looking for:
--> Proof of the time you spent researching
--> Process you went through
--> Research you did about the role
--> Research you did about the company (Customers, Products/Content, etc.)
2. Tell me about the worst part of your last job
-> Victim mentality, blaming, lack of ownership are all non-starters
-> Frame your answer in a way that doesn't throw ppl under the bus
-> Answer format:
--> Start with what you like at the company
--> State the challenge (and here's why it was a challenge)
--> How I addressed it
--> What I learned
--> How it impacted me
3. What questions do you have for me?
-> Candidates need 10 + minutes to ask Qs
-> The questions someone asks tells you what's important to them
-> It's clear if they did research or are winging it
-> Asking about 401k matching is different than asking about career growth opportunities
Advice
"Do the research to make the connection that 90% of people wouldn't make. Find something on the interviewers LinkedIn or do a quick Google search to find info."
