Sticking Out As A Candidate

interview process Sep 12, 2023

Want to stick out as a candidate?

At the beginning of an interview process, send the hiring manager's boss a connection request with a note.

BUT, make sure you do two things within the note:

1. Keep it short
2. Compliment the hiring manager/interview process

That's it, nothing more.

What's the point of this?

1. Opens up lines of communication with a DM
2. Multi thread (just like in Sales or Customer Success)
3. You're complimenting your future boss
4. Not enough people are doing this so you'll stick out
5. You're doing the job before you get it
6. Even if you don't get the job, being connected for the future will help

What's the worst that can happen? I'm trying to imagine this in my head...

"We have to decline you as a candidate because you complimented me to my boss"... get outta here 🤌

Here's what this looks like:

"Hey Callie,

Raquel is doing an amazing job. I'm in the interview process and as a candidate, I feel set up for success. Thank you!

All the best,
Candidate"

That's it.

Send a connection request w/a note to the DM -> keep it short/complimentary -> stick out as a candidate.
