Preparing For Your Next Interview
Aug 15, 2023
Candidates are leaving interviews and hurting their odds.
Yes, closing the interviewer or asking for feedback is critical, but…
Would you leave a customer call without knowing how to prepare for next steps?
Prepare yourself for the next round. Ask the interviewer how.
What’s the worst that can happen?
If they say they don’t have any advice or don’t have an answer, maybe an alert should go off.
Either you need to find someone else to ask or that’s their way of saying you didn’t pass.
If it's the latter, you know not to spend more time with them.
The way in which you ask is critical. Not too forward but clear and intentional.
Here are some questions you can ask at the end of an interview to prepare for the next round:
- “If you were in my shoes, how would you prepare for the next round?”
- “Out of the candidates you’ve hired, how did they prepare for the next round?”
- “If you were my interview coach, how would you prepare me for the next round?”
- “What shouldn’t I do to prepare for the next round?”
Always ask an open-ended question to prepare you for the next round.
Set yourself up for success, they’re not going to do it for you.
