Negotiating Your Offer

negotiating offers Jun 20, 2023

You've gone through the entire interview process and your offer is finally here!

Remember - don't take today's job market for granted when negotiating a job offer.

Spoke to some candidates last week and each conversation revolved around two major categories.

Yes, every offer/situation/person is different and you should take time to look at your own financial/personal position before going into any negotiation.

BUT, what was interesting... each conversation came back to two major buckets.

Bucket one = Candidate Value
Bucket two = Negotiation Levers

Understand why they gave you the offer they did -> use levers to compromise.

𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲
How do they see the offer they provided reflect the value you'd bring?
Are they giving you an MidMarket level offer vs. Enterprise vs. Strategic? Why?
Is there something more to address?

1. Salary or OTE
2. Equity
3. Signing bonus
4. Title
5. Exit Package
6. Severance package
7. Learning stipend
8. WFH/Remote days
9. Equipment

Step 1 = Do you need this job or can you/want to negotiate
Step 2 = Do your research
Step 3 = Make the ask (align on Candidate Value)
Step 4 = Land on what's right for you (Negotiation Levers)

If you think this will help someone, please forward it to them or have them subscribe.
