End of the Interview

interview process manager Mar 28, 2023

There was 3 minutes left in your interview and it was your turn to ask a question.

FINALLY!

We've all been there. Exhausted from answering questions. Which Q do you ask?

Do you go for the soft close? Is that too aggressive?

Here's what a Regional VP of Sales and Director of Sales said they look for...

"Candidates in that situation should ask for more time"

𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗮𝘆:
1. I know we're at the end of the call, do you have 5 more minutes?
2. I know we have a few minutes left, do you have time for 2 questions?

Why did the Regional VP and Director of Sales say they look for this?

𝘐𝘵'𝘴 𝘳𝘦𝘧𝘭𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘥𝘰 𝘰𝘯 𝘢 𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘢 𝘤𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘳.

On the flip side, as a candidate, the response you get is very telling.

Think about what happens next:
1. They say yes and you're able to ask your questions - green light
2. They say no but offer to book another meeting - yellow light
3. They say no and that's it - red light (could be telling of where you stand)

If you think this will help someone, please forward it to them or have them subscribe.

Another tip next week but until then, here's a list of places hiring by role.
