Be A Customer Before You Decide On An Offer

A CRO who recently got a job said something that is applicable to all candidates:

Talk to customers or find a way to learn what customers think before working there. 

Find someone in your network who uses the product.
Ask someone for an intro to a customer or a user. 
Look at reviews online. 
Do a demo yourself or go through the sales process with someone.

Doesn’t matter if you’re in Sales or Customer Success (or really any other department). Put yourself in the shoes of the people you’re going to work to help every day. 

Do the problems they have match up to your offering?
What other platforms are they looking at?
What do you think are the pros/cons of your future offering vs. others?

Know what it’s like to be a customer at the beginning of your interview process or by the end.
