AE Preinterview Questions
Oct 24, 2023
Every week I speak with candidates and hiring managers.
Every week I hear different sides of what's happening in interviews.
This got me thinking, what content/resources are available for BOTH candidates and interviewers to improve?
I read 21 blog posts about questions to ask Account Executives.
Hundreds of questions were listed.
This came from CEOs/CROs/VPs/Directors/
Here are the 12 questions that showed up the most across these lists (in no particular order).
1. How do you respond to criticism or rejection from prospects/customers?
2. How do you research prospects before a call?
3. What sales metrics matter most to you?
4. How do you collaborate with people outside the Sales department?
5. How would you describe the last product you sold?
6. Why do you want to sell this product/space?
7. How do you approach outbound?
8. What would your old boss say is something you’re good at and something they wanted you to work on?
9. Walk me through a deal you’re proud of. Deal size/cycle/customer name (if possible), who was involved, and how you closed it.
10. Tell me about a deal you lost, why you think you lost it, and how it changed the way you worked.
11. What resources (books/blogs.podcasts, etc.) do you consume outside of work to improve at Sales?
12. Do you (candidate) have any questions for me (interviewer)?
